Netflix runs a subscription streaming service for series, films, documentaries and games in more than 190 countries. Besides licensing content from studios, it produces a large amount of its own programming. Since 2022 Netflix has also offered lower-priced plans with advertising. The company started in 1997 as a DVD-by-mail rental service and is based in Los Gatos, California.
