Broker Comparison

The tables set out the fees and features of two kinds of provider: banks and brokers for investing in stocks and ETFs, including via savings plans, and CFD brokers for short-term, leveraged trading.

We use two of them ourselves: Comdirect (securities account) and WH SelfInvest (futures and CFDs); both rows are marked accordingly. We do not use the other providers ourselves. They are listed because independent broker comparisons and reviews regularly name them among the most frequently recommended providers.

Fees reflect the date shown in the table and change from time to time; the provider’s current schedule of fees is binding. CFDs are leveraged products: losses can quickly reach the margin posted, and according to the providers’ own disclosures most retail clients lose money trading CFDs. Which leverage limits and protections apply to currency trading, and how to check a broker’s license, is explained on forex brokers .
