Investing books: value investing, index funds, credit and position sizing
Investing books split along one question: do you try to be right about individual companies, or do you accept the average return of the market and spend your effort on cost, allocation and staying invested? Graham, Buffett and the credit titles below answer the first way; Bogle and Collins answer the second. Both answers are defensible. Reading them in sequence is what makes the difference clear — reading only one leaves you with a conviction instead of a choice.
Underneath both sits a question neither camp spends much time on: how much of your wealth belongs in the risky asset at all. That is what the sizing book in this group is for, and it is the one most readers here skip. Each entry says what the book assumes you already know, and where its arithmetic or its tax chapters have aged.

Even so, it is the shortest honest route from “I should invest” to a portfolio policy you can hold.

Move on to Bogle or Collins once the words stop being unfamiliar.

The screening criteria are dated and the prose is heavy going. Read it once for the frame of mind, and take the modern arithmetic of fund costs from Bogle instead.
